The Job: Fuels Handler (Auxiliary Operator)

Purpose
Operate wood yard mobile equipment with mounted hydraulically powered bucket to lift and transport wood chips to and from storage of processing areas to feed conveyors and hoppers. Maintain a clean and orderly fuel building and grounds.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling and cleaning.
  • Operate skid steer in unloading frozen trucks during the winter when necessary.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the fuel handling system as directed by the fuel yard supervisor.
  • Report equipment problems that jeopardized fuel handling system operation to the fuel yard supervisor.
  • Learn the fuel handling inventory tracking, weighing and control systems in order to provide backup for the fuel supervisor.
  • Conduct routine preventive and predictive maintenance on fuel handling systems, including the loader and skid steer.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the loader and building of the fuel stock pile.
  • Ensure fuel handling areas and floors are kept clean from sawdust and show.
  • Load wood ash in ash contractor containers.
  • May be assigned further responsibility including, but not limited to, certain maintenance/housekeeping and administrative items as deemed
  • Appropriate by plant management.
  • Maintain and complete Maximo work orders for inventory and work order history.
  • Acts as a team member with all ENGIE employees.
  • Complies with all ENGIE policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all ENGIE site and corporate safety rules and procedures.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.
Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver s license.
  • Be available for on-call duty status and call-ins for emergency work. In addition to the normal workday/workweek, overtime may be required.
  • Ability to work overtime as required to maintain equipment availability.
  • Ability to respond to plant emergencies; be accessible by cell phone for emergency call-ins to work anytime day or night to correct problems.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • For this position, you must have evidence of right to work in the U.S. There is no employer sponsorship of U.S. residency or work authorization with this role.
Essential Physical Abilities

  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
  • Could involve some lifting and or move up to 50 pounds of weight .
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organizations.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to pass a physical and respirator fit test.
  • Ability to perform first aid and CPR.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ration, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Any other ability required to perform the job.
Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have experience in the operation of heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers and forklifts.
